Here is another person who has deluded themselves into thinking the whole asexual community are predators out to convert as many gay kids to the Church of Asexuality as they can.

Believe it or not, plenty of gay and bisexual people are encouraged, if not outright told to be asexual. Every heard of that “hate the sin, not the sinner” crap?

And no, partysoft’s post wasn’t accusing other asexuals of this, they made the valid point that if vulnerable queer people are already hearing this from straight people, calling an LGBT hotline and hearing more of the same is harmful.

But carry on thinking we’re oppressing you with our concern.

They’re not told to be asexual, they’re told to be celibate. Completely different thing, numbskull.

And having a multitude of varied resources which detail all kinds of orientations including asexuality available, so people can make their own decisions about how they want to identify, is harmful?

Tbh all I’m hearing from you guys is the same sort of concern trolling crap gay people get from parents complaining about LGBT info being made available, because they’re worried their poor child might turn gay from just being exposed to such material.

Young kids aren’t going to be magically converted to asexuality just by being informed that it is a thing that exists and there is information on it.

On the one hand, I'm a little afraid this will only make things worse, but on the other, seeing this made me feel a little better. It almost made me feel safer, in a way, to know that someone out there is able and willing to fight back at this point, and to know that the counter-arguments are now out there for people to see, too. It's just good to see our side represented in meme form, I guess.

Well, how could I not bring this back when the other meme re-emerged? Seeing as they both started around the same time last time. Calling out offensive behaviour is always something that should be done regardless of what community you belong to, but I’m always happy to point out the hypocrisy of some people in the queer community to complement them singling out examples of aces being offensive.

Well, it was kind of set up to respond to homophobicaces, but yeah, sure, go right ahead and submit any other things you have.

Could you post links with your submissions? I feel like the homophobic ace meme at least posts links (most of the time) so I know that they're not accusing the entire ace community of homophobia, just the person/s who said something homophobic. (Which I think is fair, for the most part.) I don't get that feeling with this meme, and I agree with what greenchestnuts said previously. I think posting links would just kinda clear things up for everyone, ya' know?

Yup, same. Pretty much all of these are things that have actually been said by people. I personally just don’t care anymore because I’ve heard it all a thousand times before. I find the best way to deal with it is to either just ignore or laugh. They’re just not worth the effort arguing with.

It seems pretty silly to turn around and imply that the entire LGBT community is like/is responsible for a handful of trolls, though, which is what this meme seems to be doing.

True, very true. I don’t expect the entire LGBT community to be held responsible for the nona trolls nor do I believe that the entire community perpetuates this behaviour against us. However, that kind of blanket accusation - that offensive behaviour is ingrained into our community and that all of us are responsible for the actions of a small minority - also happens to be exactly what homophobicaces is doing to us as well. So I suppose this is a way of showcasing the double standard.

Well, I’m a homoromantic asexual guy and I never got beaten up or kicked out. In fact, most of my family and friends were pretty supportive of my homoromanticism, but are still struggling to understand my asexuality. But because I haven’t had my life threatened then I guess I’m not gay or oppressed enough for the LGBT community anymore. So, where do I hand in my Queer License?

Cross-romantic meaning having a romantic orientation different to your sexual orientation. I know an aromantic homosexual, an aromantic bisexual, a homoromantic bisexual and a biromantic heterosexual. Romantic orientation is not just limited to asexual-spectrum people, like oh-so-many anti-ace LGBTs argue. They’re often trying to erase romantic orientations as “unnecessary”, and suggesting that homoromantic asexuals are just gay, etc. Which is gross. Also, if romantic orientation doesn’t exist, where does that leave aromantics? Are they just mythical unicorns or dragons living in the Void or something?
